Fruita Loops...

***I have to give Robin credit for this name...it took her awhile to think of this clever title***

I hope everyone enjoyed our kayaking photo shoot! One of my favorite things I've done out here!!! I definitely want a kayak for Christmas now!
After our kayaking adventure, we took a swim in the lake at our campsite (it was cold but I freaked out and had to swim because I haven't all summer!) Then we took off to see the Colorado National Monument.

Balancing rock...

This used to be connected to the other rocks...Independent rock...

The three fat guys...

After that we went to a vineyard and sampled some wine...Grand Junction/Fruita is known for their many fruit orchards and vineyards...then later that night we built a campfire (all by myself!) and had s'mores...

The next day we drove back and stopped at Glenwood Springs to take a dip in the hot springs...here is a picture of the world's largest hot springs...there was a therapy pool that was 104 degrees! (it was 94 degrees on sunday)...but the natural hot springs felt really nice to swim around in...

Overall, Robin had a wonderful first camping trip, and I am so pumped that I reached one of my goals by kayaking on the Colorado river and going to a hot springs...it was an amazing weekend!

The outdoorsy life...

I'm skipping a few weekends of adventures from when the Goodsons were out here because I have a lot of pictures to go through...but thought the blog needed an update! So I will work on all the pictures from the Goodsons trip out here this week and get them up soon.

This past weekend Robin and I decided to go camping in Fruita, Colorado!! It was a long drive Friday night to get there, but well worth the trip...Rob had never been camping before and me being the outdoors expert now thought it would be a good time to take her! **Note: Will was invited to camp with us but opted to stay home and study and be martha stewart**

Our campsite was different than most of the ones we had been to...it was pretty shady and grassy and right by a lake...

Saturday morning we woke up and went kayaking on the Colorado River!!! I have been wanting to do that ever since May when we were in Utah...and we finally found a place in CO that was class I rapids and calm enough for us to kayak on...

Starting off...

The river...

We kayaked 9 miles down the Colorado River, and it took us about 2 1/2 hours...it was AMAZING! We had perfect weather and the water conditions were perfect! The rapids were like going over boat waves at the beach...so we were able to take lots of pictures!

We take kayaking ver seriously...

So after awhile we just had a photo shoot...

Oh we also saw a bald eagle...

The end of the kayaking trip...we were so sad!

We made it!!!

So that was just Saturday morning...we did some other really fun things, but I'll put more pictures up later!!

Adventures in camping...

While John and Katie were out here visiting they wanted to go camping...so we headed down to southwestern Colorado to Eleven Mile State Park for the weekend.

Our tents...

The view...

We took a drive around the park and saw some animals and even made some friends!!!

We love buffalo...

They weren't interested in us...

Classic elk picture...

We got some camping visitors Saturday afternoon...Catherine, Mandy, Mischa and Ollie...

The girls...

We just look good after camping for 24 hours...

Buffalo burgers and s'mores...

Will the ninja (was cold even though it was only in the 50s at night)...

Obviously Katie and I were very serious about our s'mores...

The next day we took the scenic route home (not fun!)....here is John..."oh guys look at that mountain, can we stop and take a picture...(every 10 minutes!)...

Katie and I got tired of the boys so decided to hitch a ride home...no one picked us up...althought we didn't see civilization for like 30 minutes...

Will and John...

Katie and me after we ran up that mountain in the background...

We decided to take a different route back home so we could see more mountains and the countryside...big mistake. We ended up four-wheeling on a dirt road that was very bumpy and very long and popped a tire! Needless to say, we had a spare and changed it but it was a very, very stressful ride home! None of us really talked for the rest of our car ride (which was a couple of hours)...some pictures from the countryside...we didn't feel it was appropriate to take pictures where we had a flat...no one was feeling snap happy...

I've never been so glad to get home! We had a great time with John and Katie!! Next visitors the Goodsons...
